Wild is Life Trust & Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery (ZEN)

Wild is Life Trust & ZEN is a wildlife conservation organization and sanctuary based in Harare, Zimbabwe. Founded in 1988 by Roxy Danckwerts, the organization is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rewilding of orphaned and injured wildlife, with a special focus on elephants.

Key Programs & Initiatives:

• Zimbabwe Elephant Nursery (ZEN): Established in 2013, ZEN is Zimbabwe’s first elephant nursery, providing specialized care for orphaned, milk-dependent elephant calves. The goal is to rehabilitate and eventually reintegrate them into the wild.
• The Sanctuary Experience: Wild is Life offers exclusive, guided wildlife experiences, where visitors can interact with animals like giraffes, pangolins, and elephants while enjoying high tea or sundowners.
• Panda Masuie Rewilding Project: A 34,000-hectare protected reserve near Victoria Falls where rehabilitated elephants are reintroduced into their natural habitat. The area is also used for habitat conservation and anti-poaching efforts.
• Wildlife Rescue & Rehabilitation: The sanctuary provides care for various rescued animals, including lions, primates, and antelopes, ensuring they receive the necessary treatment before being returned to the wild whenever possible.
