Dinner for Two?

Imagine this—It’s Saturday Night, Dan finally gets the courage to hit up that special someone he’s had his eyes on for a while. He convinces her to somehow to say yes then drops a couple on a nice ride to pick her up in. There it is….the suit that would put even the Pastor to shame. He even opens up the bottle of Tom Ford Cologne that has been waiting for months in his closet for a special occasion such as this. Oooh yeah, he’s going ALL IN. She comes out looking fine as a dime and Dan proceeds to excitedly tell his fine female passenger what he has planned for them; “First a dinner for two at Pizza Inn, then”—she abruptly interrupts him and jumps out the Car. Dan is left alone with only the lingering smell of Tom Ford mixed with his tears. 

Moral of this (horrible, exaggerated) story? Guys, don’t be like Dan; (at least not on first dates).

Fine Dining Restaurants to “WOW” Your Date

Coming in at Number 1 is:

1. Restaurant JDB

On their official Facebook page they describe the motto of the restaurant as, “Setting new standards. Bringing Fine Dining to Harare. Focusing on sustainability and the integrity of each ingredient.” 

The Restaurant was founded by Zimbabwean born award-winning chef Johannes De Bruijn.  The style of the contemporary cuisine is described as drawing on a blend of classic French technique, an obsession with bold Asian flavour and a true passion for modern gastronomy.

Now let’s get into their Menu: Their menu changes from time to time so you will need to check their official page to keep track, but as of now their 4 course meal is priced at $65 pp, 6 course meal is priced at $85 pp, there is also a special Chef’s Menu.

Please note that a discretionary 10% service charge will be added to all bills. Items and prices are also subject to change without notice.  In conclusion, don’t come here if you’re trying to be cheap! Go big or go home! Reservations can be made online through their official website.

2. Victoria Twenty-Two

Victoria Twenty Two is a gorgeous Modern European Restaurant equipped with both lavish outdoor and indoor seating perfect for a romantic evening. They offer special menu’s depending on the Holiday and the venue also offers Event Hosting. Their menu has a wide range of Starters, Pasta, Salads and Desserts. They also have a Vegetarian menu.

They are open for lunch Monday to Friday from 12.00pm to 2.00pm. and for Dinner from Monday to Saturday starting at 7.00pm . If you’re looking for a place with stylish interior, excellent service, friendly staff, cosy atmosphere, and delicious food then this is the place for you.

Now that we’ve gotten some of the pricey Fine Dining Restaurants out of the way we can finally move on to some places where you don’t need to sell a Kidney. 

Coming in at big Number 3 we have Khaya Nyama Wombles.

3. Khaya Nyama Wombles

For all you avid carnivores out there, you’re going to love this place. 

Wombles is a popular Steakhouse Restaurant and Bar serving Salads, Desserts, Seafood, Pasta, and different cuts of Steak and Beef dishes; the most expensive thing on the entire food menu being a 600g Prime Rib coming out to $35. A selection of seasonal vegetables is also served complimentary with the meal.

The best thing about Wombles is that if you don’t feel up to “fine dining” in the restaurant, then you are able to order cheaper meals and some drinks from the bar menu.

They’re open Monday to Saturday from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, and 5:30 PM – 10:00 PM. Closed on Sundays.

4. Oak Tree Restaurant

Oak Tree is a quaint Restaurant that will make you feel at home with their delicious food and friendly atmosphere. They update their menu from time to time so there is always something new and exciting waiting for customers.

This restaurant has a bit more of a chill vibe than the above three and is a great affordable option for dates. Feeling awkward and don’t know what to talk about during the date? Don’t worry! Strike a conversation while being entertained by incredible live music! Check their Facebook page to stay updated on performance dates.

They are always having specials for the Holiday with their most recent one being a Fathers’ Day 2 course meal priced at $20 per person. They sell a wide range of dishes from Seafood and Steaks to Salads, Pastas, Burgers and more. If you would like to host a Wedding, Birthday, or other event and don’t want to break the bank, this is the perfect spot for you. They offer both outdoor and indoor seating.
